Antony Gormley's One & Other. Fourth Plinth, Trafalgar Square. June 2009.

It’s an inescapable comparison isn’t it? The Big Brother Housemates and the ‘Plinthers’. It was all rather tiresome and even if Warhol had limited it to 15 minutes, I fear it would’ve been 14 minutes too long.

So, for a hundred consecutive days, 2,400 selected members of the public will each spend one hour on the plinth. Gormley did say it was about people coming together to do something extraordinary and unpredictable. He then said it could also be tragic.
Tragic, it was. . . The most exciting thing to happen when I was there was a lady opening a bottle of champagne. Hardly praiseworthy, and I irresponsibly applauded this complete rubbish.

Don't go.
