Manchester Art Gallery. April 2009.

A visit to Manchester Art Gallery with my Sister, to see the Ten Drawings by Leonardo da Vinci from the Royal Collection. Portrait of a young woman, by the Renaissance fella is one I'm fond of, just because she shows no emotion and has this unawareness about her, and of course her profile is beautifully drawn.

The impressionistic paintings of Edwardian Manchester were great to see. Pierre Adolphe Valette (1876 – 1942) was a French Impressionist painter who lived in Manchester, clearly he must have loved the dreary weather, as the Hacienda only opened in 1982!

L.S. Lowery was a pupil of his, and he seems to be remembered for this, rather than his work.

P.S) Just a note about colour - I have dyed my hair, it was meant to be a darker red than my own, but, it turned out to be dark purple and in photograpghs looks black. The beauty of the colour wheel by clairol hair dye!
